# How to Start Mirroring a Leader's Live Crypto Trades

> Follow a Mirror Leader on Mirrorpip, set your allocation and optional stop-loss, then let Mirrorpip copy their trades automatically in real time.

Once you've found a Mirror Leader you want to follow, starting mirroring takes just a few taps. Before you begin, make sure you've [connected your exchange account](/getting-started/connect-exchange) — mirroring cannot start without an active exchange connection.

  <Step title="Open the leader's profile">
    Tap the Mirror Leader you want to follow from the Mirror Leaders list to open their full profile.

  <Step title="Tap Mirror">
    On the leader's profile, tap the **Mirror** button. This opens the mirroring configuration screen.

  <Step title="Set your allocation">
    Enter the amount from your exchange balance you want to allocate to this leader. For example, if you have $500 on your exchange and enter $100, Mirrorpip will use up to \$100 of your funds when copying this leader's trades.

      Start with a modest allocation — especially for a new leader. You can always increase it later once you've observed their performance.

  <Step title="Configure risk settings (optional)">
    Optionally, set a **stop-loss threshold** — an automatic pause that triggers if your losses from this leader exceed a specified amount or percentage. See [Risk management](/concepts/risk-management) for details.

  <Step title="Confirm and start">
    Review your settings and tap **Start Mirroring** to confirm. Mirrorpip will begin copying the leader's trades immediately.

## What happens after you start mirroring

* **Existing positions** — Mirrorpip does not retroactively copy positions the leader already has open before you start. Only new trades placed after you begin mirroring are copied.
* **New trades** — Every new trade the leader places is automatically copied into your exchange account in real time.
* **Position sizing** — Each mirrored trade is sized proportionally to your allocation and the leader's own position size.

  You can follow multiple leaders at the same time. Navigate back to the Mirror Leaders list and repeat this process for any additional leaders you want to mirror.

After you start mirroring, you can track all open positions from the [Positions screen](/guides/manage-positions) in the app.
